About us

Ok, I know most people out in the blogosphere don’t know me. I don’t even think many people read my blog. Helloooo? Is anyone out there??? So for the accidental or intentional visitor, here’s a little bit more info about me.

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I am now 34 years old (oh dear, did I just admit that on the Internet???) , I am married to Mr. Bubba (or Mr. Bubbinsky), and we have two children – Mr. Skinny and Mr. Snugglebunny. Mr. Skinny is 16 and a junior in high school. Mr. Snugglebunny is 8 and in 3rd grade.

Mr. Bubba and I have been together for a long time, since we were teenagers. We have been married for 10 years. Yes, we had a child before we were married. Mr. Bubba is the principal at a private parochial K-8 school. He has worked in education for the past 12 years, he decided to be a teacher when he was in 5th grade. Through time his goal grew to the point where he wanted to be a school principal out of his desire to affect change on a larger scale.

Mr. Skinny attends a private high school. Mr. Skinny attended public school from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. We transferred him to private school due to the decline of the public school system. Mr. Skinny is a wonderful kid, he’s loving, giving, funny, smart, handsome, a typical boy who still thinks passing gas is funny AND he is an adolescent. So we’re also getting the “Oh my God”s, eye rolls, deep sighs and reminders of how awful we are as parents. Mr. Skinny has been my greatest teacher as a mom and his brother reaps the rewards of the lessons I’ve learned.

Mr. Snugglebunny is 8. He wants to be a paleontologist or a knights weapon specialist for the show “Deadliest Warrior” when he grows up. A friend of ours says he’s going to be a rocket scientist and many people comment that they’ve never met an 8 year old as articulate as ours. Mr. Snugglebunny also wants to be a ninja at nights, a speed skater, a snowboarder, a rock star. What can I say? My kids are smart. They must get it from their parents!

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Not related fields, at all. But I know I am a Renaissance Soul… a person who thrives on a variety of interests and who redefines the accepted meaning of success. I am also a DONA International trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, and a Clinical Hypnotherapist. I know, what a combination of interests. I also like knitting, reading, sewing. I like to be involved at my kids’ schools. I have been the classroom mom more times than I’d like to count. I’m currently trying to improve my sewing and knitting skills.

I also have to manage chronic medical conditions. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in mid-2004, by the fall of 2004 I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia. So, how do I do all that I do? (In the voice of Ms. Niecy Nash who used to be on Clean House) Very stubbornly. I have been quite stubborn the past 7 years and got to the point of quitting my job because my body didn’t want to let me continue with a 40 hour+ a week job working in a residential facility with adolescent boys who all had mental health issues and problems with the legal system. I have not worked outside my home for nearly 4 years. I decided that enough was enough and I had to listen to my body.

I definitely work at home. I am the CEO, CFO, CAO, COO and whatever other executive title I could possibly have for my family. Basically, I am the mom.

I write here to give you all a glimpse of what our normal life looks like. I’ve always hoped that what I write can help someone who may be facing a similar situation as we are. I love to meet new people, I’m quite the social butterfly. I like to build community. I welcome any and all comments. Let’s talk!

Thanks for getting to know us!
