Yesterday, June 18th, was my 36th birthday. This time was different… I normally get the birthday blahs for about two to three weeks before my birthday but not this year. This year I felt like celebrating. One theory is that I’m still riding the high of finishing my first half-marathon, I definitely think there is some truth to this theory. I’ll have to come back and tell you all about my recent races. I also think we’ve been so busy with so many things going on that I didn’t even have time to focus on my upcoming birthday.
I had a good day yesterday. I took Mr. Snugglebunny to the dentist and he got an excellent dental bill of health. We even came home with a tooth to leave for the tooth fairy. My mom, the boys and I had a nice lunch at home. Mr. Bubbinsky came home from work early. I got in a quick one mile run, I fired up my sewing machine and got some sewing done. We went out to a nice dinner with Mr. Bubbinsky’s parents and siblings. We have a family tradition of telling “I remember when…” stories about the birthday girl or boy. The stories last night had me cracking up. We had a great time.
I decided to add a year long celebration this year. You see, I track my running mileage on the dailymile website and I’ve participated in a bunch of challenges on the site. I decided to create a challenge of my own… I call it the Birthday to Birthday challenge. It’s an Everybody Wins challenge counting all activities running from June 18, 2013 to June 17, 2014, every day that I’m 36. My goal is that we each reach 365 miles, an average of one mile per day, or more. The more the merrier so if you happen to be a member of dailymile go ahead and join the challenge. Or if you’re not a member of dailymile and you’re active why not join dailymile and keep track of all that you do? I like that it tells me how many donuts I’ve burned off – 193.41, in case you were wondering.
To tell you the truth, being 36 today doesn’t feel any different than I felt being 35 two days ago.
