Getting Crafty

This past weekend I actually spent some time in my craft room. It had been a long time since I had an opportunity to play with fabric or yarn or any other craft materials.

Choosing fabrics for sewing projects

I had recently washed and dried some fabrics. I always pre-wash my fabrics to remove residues left in the manufacturing process and to make sure the fabrics are pre-shrunk. I would hate to spend time and effort on a project and then to have it go askew because the fabric wasn’t pre-treated. I have a few projects in mind and I wanted to look over the prepared fabrics. Look for some posts with sewing projects coming soon. I’m excited to spend some time listening to the hum of the sewing machine motor putting fabric together into pretty and practical things!

I also grabbed my knitting when we headed out to Mr. Snugglebunny’s baseball game on Sunday. We have to get to the field about one hour before the game for the kids to warm up and I wanted to make sure to be able to entertain myself. I was taking the iPad with me anyways, a lot of my books are on my iPad, so I decided to grab my knitting on a whim. I did get a few rows done, I wasn’t completely focused on knitting during that hour but it felt so good to have the yarn slipping through my fingers and creating new stitches while enjoying the sun. I’m almost at the halfway point on my Saroyan scarf and that makes me very excited. I’m hoping to finish it for myself for the Christmas season. No knit gifts for anyone this year, it was a hard decision to make but a necessary one this year.

This is a super secret project that I’m working on. I’ve finished the first phase and am moving on to the next phase. I can’t wait to share the finished project with all of you! I just had to share a sneak peek.

I started reading Blacklisted by the PTA by Lela Davidson yesterday, I’ve already had some laugh out loud moments while reading this one. I always wonder what the other parents think when I’m sitting in the car pick up line or parked outside the school cracking up at the books I’m reading. It doesn’t really make a difference what they think but I’d be curious to know.

What crafty things have you been working on? I’d love to hear about them, I enjoy seeing other people’s projects.

I’m linking up with Tami for WIP Wednesday and with Ginny for Yarn Along.

    • I do! It’s great to have several books with me while I’m out without the bulk. I also have a lot of knitting patterns on my iPad, which makes it easier for me to grab a project  and keep going with it.
