Hello August!

Hello August, fancy meeting you here so soon. It feels like the month of July just flew by. I blinked and it was gone.

July was a busy month for us, there were days where I don’t remember taking a breath. We were able to take a break and go to South Lake Tahoe for a friend’s wedding early in the month, I’ll have to share some pictures that we took on that trip. South Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place. The wedding was great: it was at a beautiful venue, the weather was great and we had a LOT of fun reconnecting with friends we hadn’t seen in a long time. I’ll have to share some of the pictures we took.

Our younger son had surgery on the 16th, the procedure went very well and his recovery has been great. He’s pretty much back to normal, he’s running around being his silly self. The past two weeks have revolved around making sure he’s been comfortable and taking his medications on time. He’s loved the extra attention and I’ve been happy to give it.

August is back to school month for all the boys. Mr. Bubbinsky starts the new school year tomorrow. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of preparations and this will all continue. There are families who were still registering their students today. Mr. Skinny starts senior year of high school in two weeks and Mr. Snugglebunny starts 4th grade in four weeks. In some ways summer has gone by too slowly and in some ways it’s gone by too quickly.

With all of the busyness this month I only read one book. I know! It amazes to me too. Usually when things get too busy and too hectic, I can dive into a book to escape. This month we were too busy for me to do that and I also couldn’t decide what I wanted to read. There wasn’t anything in my reading queue that I felt like reading right away. I’m sure I’ll be inspired to read something soon.

I did pick up and work on my Saroyan scarf/shawl. I figure I could work on it for both the Ravellenic Games and for the Year of Projects. I’ve added two more repeats on the straight section. I’m looking forward to working on this more regularly, this is a project for me but it seems like this project and others that are intended for me end up getting put on the back burner while something else cuts in line. I think part of the problem is that I start to feel guilty when I do something for myself. I’ve got some thoughts brewing about that.

We have lots of plans for the rest of August. Projects around the house, projects in the craft room, and maybe some changes here on the blog.

How is your summer going? Are you ready for back-to-school?

What what was the title you read in July? Our July flew by too. Hope your son has fully recovered by now.

I read Construct a Couple by Talli Roland, it’s the sequel to Build a Man. My son is doing much better, he’s back to his normal silly self. He still has about 2 weeks of taking it easy but he’s ok now.
